PPTX by Anthropic

Use PPTX by Anthropic to create, read, and edit presentation files with an agent. Work from a brief, an existing deck, or a template, organize slide content and supporting visuals, then inspect thumbnails and rendered slides before handing over an editable presentation.

About PPTX

PPTX is Anthropic’s document Skill for creating and modifying presentation files and templates. It distinguishes a new deck from edits to an existing package, and includes tools for extracting text, inspecting slide thumbnails, managing slide content, and validating the saved file. This helps an agent work with the structure of a presentation while checking how its individual slides actually render. Provide the audience, message, source material, and any template that must be preserved. Output review should include both the narrative across slides and issues such as overflow, alignment, image placement, and missing content. The Skill is source-available under Anthropic’s proprietary document-Skill license.

Use Cases for PPTX

Explore presentation work with an editable deck as the deliverable. Build a briefing from approved research, update an existing presentation with new facts, or adapt a slide template while checking that the story, layouts, speaker notes, and supporting visuals remain appropriate for the audience.

Build a briefing deck

Turn approved research into a slide narrative for a defined audience, with evidence and visuals supporting each main point.

Update an existing presentation

Change selected facts or slides while preserving the deck’s intended sequence, template choices, and relevant speaker notes.

Adapt a slide template

Fit new content to the supplied layouts, then inspect crowded slides and media placement rather than assuming placeholder sizes will work.

How to Use PPTX

Provide the presentation brief, source material, and any deck or template to reuse. Agree on the slide structure, create or edit using the matching source workflow, then inspect a thumbnail overview and the rendered slides before validating and delivering the editable presentation file.

  1. 01

    Define the story and inputs

Specify the audience, decision, source material, and target length. Provide the existing deck or template if it must be reused.

  2. 02

    Create or update the slides

Review the proposed slide structure with the agent. Follow the appropriate new-deck or existing-file workflow for the requested edits.

  3. 03

    Inspect visuals and file structure

Check the thumbnail overview and individual rendered slides. Fix overflow and missing elements, then validate the saved presentation package.

PPTX FAQ

Can this Skill start from a PowerPoint template?
Yes. The source includes existing-deck and template-based editing. Supply the template, identify layouts to preserve, and review the result because replacement content may need different sizing or distribution.
Can it extract text without redesigning the deck?
Yes. The documented reading workflow can extract content separately from creation or editing. Specify whether you also need slide numbers, notes, or a visual overview.
Will every element remain editable?
That depends on how the deck is built. Ask which content should be native text, shapes, charts, or images, and inspect the saved file rather than inferring editability from a screenshot.
Why check both thumbnails and individual slides?
Thumbnails reveal sequence and consistency across the deck. Individual renders expose small text, clipping, overlap, and detail problems that the overview may hide.
Is a PPTX generated file the same as a PDF export?
No. The editable presentation package and its rendered export have different roles. Deliver the requested format and inspect exports separately when the user also needs a PDF for sharing.
Is the PPTX Skill an open-source package?
Anthropic identifies its document Skills as source-available. The PPTX directory has a proprietary LICENSE.txt, so use the official installation path and review those terms for any copying or reuse.
